Sommières

The medieval city of Sommières developed around its Roman bridge and its castle located on the hill overlooking the city. While taking a walk along its lanes, surprises and findings will catch your eye between the market plaza with its arches, the mansions fronts and the sculptures.

Pays des terres de Sommières

At the crossroads between Nimes and Montpellier, the Camargue and the Cévennes, the Pays d’Accueil Terres de Sommières / Vallée du Vidourle is an ideal leisure area. Our villages hide vestiges inherited from the Middle-Ages. Producers will be happy to share with you their love of a well done work. Many tracks cross the garrigue, the pinewood and the vineyard and offer plenty activities. The Vidourle banks invite you to fish, practice canoe or swim… and let’s not forget the incredible festivities (bulls, medieval festivities, jazz, classical…).

A sea of vines

Gathered around the Pays des Terres de Sommières which personifies the medium Vidourle and its fearsome Vidourlades, the villages or cities seem to sail on a sea of vines which makes the garrigue look like islands : St Hippolyte du Fort at the doors of the mountain, Sauve, Sommières overlooking the rivers, Quissac controlling the tracks.
